The Club Christmas bash went well and the AGM is scheduled for March 26. One of our two hard working K-13s is undergoing refurbishment and we are progressing with winch equipment modifications to enable the planned change to synthetic rope. Planning permission has been lodged for a new winch and vehicle shed large enough also to maintain club trailers in. Arrangements for inter-club are under way in fervent hope that the weather treats us a good deal better than it did last year.

Things are moving on well with a number of cross countries of note including 400km-plus from John Gilbert Jnr as well as his 300km-plus a couple of days earlier. A programme of talks is in progress, including cross-country techniques as part of an emphasis which our CFI, Dennis Heslop, is placing on further development of post-solo pilots. Graham Wright joins the committee as treasurer in place of Nick White, who we thank for quite a number of years at the helm of our finances. Congratulations go to Martin Hargreaves and Tim Forsey on their first solos.

We won the Eastern Inter-club League - thanks go to clubs who hosted weekends. Congratulations Markus Klinker, Gunter Seymus and Ben King on going solo and to Nick White, Martin Lawson and Dick Skinner for Silver distance flights. Competition successes for Robbie Nunn, third in the Club Class Nationals; John Gilbert Jnr, third in the Easterns; and George Green, seventh in the Juniors. We hosted a memorial for the USAAF 55th Fighter Group veterans who flew here during WWII. Sadly we said goodbye to Pete Wilby, who lost his valiant battle against cancer.
